It's not a surprise that the secret to a productive day is a productive morning. We all want to do more and get more out of our days and lives in general. I've written previously about getting the most out of your day, but I've definitely found that if I'm really intentional about how I spend the first couple of hours of my day, the rest of my day is much improved. So here are my 5 secrets to a productive morning.
Get up earlier.
This may sound a bit daunting, but honestly getting up early super important if you want to get the most out of your mornings. Waking up just a few hours earlier can really improve your day. You don't just get more done, but you have time to do the things you want to do too.
Turn your phone off.
Most of us are guilty of waking up, and immediately reaching for our phones. We check our emails, scroll through Instagram, check our twitter feeds all before actually getting out of bed. Before you know it half an hour has gone and you're already stressed out by your inbox.
Try keeping your phone on do not disturb for at least the first hour of your day. Not only will it make sure your morning is much more relaxed, it will also allow your mind, naturally wake up and will make the rest of your day feel more manageable.
Make the bed.
Seems rather simple, but making your bed can make a huge difference to your day. I often think that even if my day has been terrible - at least I've accomplished one thing, making my bed.
Getting in some exercise is a great way to spend your morning and kick-start your day. By moving your body early in the morning, you're waking up your nervous system and getting your energy flowing ready for the day. It doesn't have to be strenuous, try some light yoga or a morning walk. I personally love to walk in the mornings, I find it clears my head and gives me space to set positive thought patterns for the day.
Eat a good breakfast.
When you're rushing in the morning - skipping brekkie can be a common occurrence. To get the most out of your day, make sure you're having a good breakfast. Fueling your body is so important, particularly at the start of the day. I love a good avo on toast or a berry smoothie to get my body kickstarted.
These are just a few ideas to help you get up and get going in the morning. Having a productive morning is one of the best feelings in the world, and when I say productive, that doesn't have to mean ticking off your to-do list, but actually just starting your and treating yourself well. XO
