Running a blog can be hard work, particularly when you get stuck in a rut and aren't seeing the results you're hoping for. It can be disheartening to see low traffic numbers and have no one reading your content. We all go through times like that, and blogging can be really tough, so here are six super easy things you can do today that will improve your blog!

1. Get clear on your goals.

If you don't know where your blog is headed it's hard to know how to improve it. Set out some clear goals, get specific and get intentional! Maybe you want to be more consistent with your posting schedule, maybe you want to start working on a new series of content, or maybe you want to start making money with your blog. Whatever your goals are, get clear about them, write them down and get to work. By having clear goals you'll automatically have a renewed passion for your blog, and know what you need to do to make it happen!

2. Change up your strategies.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result. If you're looking to grow and improve your blog, it's important to take a look at what's working and what's not. We're in a world where algorithms are changing constantly, and we need to keep up. Just because something worked well for you last year, doesn't mean it will still work for you now. Take some time to check your stats, and switch things up a bit.

3. Brain dump new ideas.

Maybe it's time to try something new... Step away from your laptop for a moment, grab a notebook and do what I like to call a brain dump. I love to go to a coffee shop, as I find changing up my environment can make me think more creatively. and just start writing out new blog post ideas. When you're doing this, hold nothing back, no idea is stupid, even if an idea seems ridiculous at first it can often trigger something really great. Usually, by the end of just half an hour, I have a whole heap of blog posts ideas and a whole new excitement to get them written!

4. Promote old content.

We sometimes get caught up in creating new posts, we forget about the posts we've already written. Just because you wrote a post a year ago doesn't mean that it's no longer relevant. It's time to give your old posts another chance at life. Simply take a look back at your blog, make updates where necessary and reshare them on your social platforms. This is a great way to get a boost in your blog without really having to do much!

5. Add related posts links.

While we're talking about old content, when you're updating your old posts, try adding related post links into them. You can see I've done this a couple of time in this post already. If someone is reading your post, the likelihood is that they'll like other posts you have on a similar subject, and will start to click on your site, reading and engaging with more than one post.

6. Create Pins for your Posts.

Pinterest is a goldmine for website traffic, if you're not using Pinterest to promote your posts then you're really missing out. To really give your blog a boost go back and create pins for each of your posts and start pinning them! Find out more about using Pinterest for your blog by checking out my new series here.
